Canadian Visitor Visa
To travel Canada, people usually are required to hold a Canadian visitor visa or a travel authorization called eTA. Canada is ranked one of the top countries attracting tourists from across the world for its stunning landscapes, social safety, welcoming people, and its immigration policies, etc. There are various reasons to visit to Canada.
Visitor visa or eTA
A visitor visa (also called a temporary resident visa) is an official document that we stick in your passport. It shows that you meet the requirements needed to enter Canada.
Most travellers need a visitor visa to travel to Canada. You may also need one if you’re transiting through a Canadian airport on your way to your final destination.
An Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) is an entry requirement for visa-exempt foreign nationals travelling to Canada by air. An eTA is electronically linked to a traveller’s passport. It is valid for up to five years or until the passport expires, whichever comes first. If you get a new passport, you need to get a new eTA.

If you will stay in Canada less than 6 months, you can apply to a visitor visa as explained above.
Super Visa
A super visa is a Canadian visitor visa that allows you visit your children or grandchildren for up to 5 years at a time. It’s a multi-entry visa that provides multiple entries for a period up to 10 years. The child who invites you must show proofs of finance that meet required minimum income to make sure you are supported financially for you stay in Canada. For this year, the income based on family size as in the following sheet:

You also need to buy private medical insurance from a Canadian company for $100,000 emergency coverage.

Stay in Canada longer
Visitors, students and workers who want to extend their stay (temporary resident status) in Canada could apply for extension of your current status or change your status to visitor by expiry of your stay.
Visit Canada on business
A business visitor is someone who comes to Canada:
- for international business activities
- without directly entering the Canadian labour market
Examples of this include someone who comes to Canada:
- to meet people from companies doing business with their country
- to observe site visits
- because a Canadian company invited them for training in:
- product use
- sales
- other business transaction functions
They don’t need a work permit to come to Canada, but you do need a Canadian visitor visa under business type.
Business visitors must prove that their main source of income and their main place of business are outside Canada.
If you’re doing work for a Canadian company, you may need to get a work permit. For example, you’re an employee sent by a foreign company to fulfill a contract with a Canadian company.
Business visitors and business people are not the same. Business people come to do work in Canada under a free trade agreement or immigration programs.
